There are only 5 continents?

This is something I have always had a problem with. In the United States we are told there are seven continents; North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and Antarctica. that pretty much cover it all up right? Wrong, where is Central America? So you include North America and South America but not Central America?! How stupid!
In Central America countries are taught that there are five continents; the Americas; which include north, central, and south, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania; which includes Australia, Antarctica, and the Philippians. Now I don't exactly agree with this but it does make a good point.
The way I see it, is that there are two ways to organize every country on this planet without none of them left out.
The first option is this: the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and Antarctica.
The second option is: North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and Antarctica.

But also one of my friends said that North America should just be the U.S. and Canada and Central America should be a continent on it's own with Mexico. Tell me what you think below.
But I believe there should either be six continents or eight.

First of all, it's suppose to be "There ARE Only 5 Continents?" !

In my opinion, tehy should just leave the continents as they are, they were made because the people who discovered them wanted to be like that. Why woul anyone want to change where the continents belong?I know that Mexicans are not Americans ,Yet theyre considered as Americans and yes i believe that that's very wrong.
