South Americans are American too You Know.

The United States aren't the only people that can call themselves "American", did you know that? Actually people in Mexico and Canada and also people in South America can call themselves "American" and guess why.... because they are all in North America and South America, notice how they all end with "America" Therefore they can call themselves that. So we are not the only ones that can say that. So I think it's rude for the United States to think that we are the only ones that are allowed to use that word, as if we came up with that word ourselves. So I have no problem with other countries in North America, Central America and South America calling themselves "American" and no one else should either. Why do you think it's called United States of America

I believe that you typed this as soon as you saw my other post,! I Don't think that Mexico should be it's own conitent or that Canda should be it's own continent. That would really be weird,The world was made like it is for a reason and people were born where they are for a reason.

I agree with you completely. We are all Americans. The term "American" was actually started by a Mexican priest, believe it or not, named José María Teclo Morelos who helped Mexico gain it's independence from Spain. He gave the term to those people born in the Americas instead of class distinctions that were used at the time, such as Indian, mulatto, and mestizo. He said "We are all Americans."

Hey Stefan! Love your blog! The name fits it perfectly. You are the absolute thinker, alright!

I second your thoughts on this post. You made a very good point. There are so many different kinds of Americans with all different kinds of cultures. We refer to anyone who lives in Europe as European so why wouldn't we refer to anyone who lives in the Americas as Americans?

I'm really looking forward to reading more of your thoughts. You're gonna love blogging. Keep up the good work.

Love you,
